Opening Title Remake
For my video editing class, we were tasked to recreate an opening of a movie of our choice, incorporating all the VFX and video editing techniques that we have learned so far.
From what I observed, more recent anime movies don't have opening titles/sequences so the opening credits are shown throughout the first few minutes of the movie until the title is shown or when the main characters meet.

I decided to create an opening title of the anime movie 言の葉の庭 (Garden of Words) by Makoto Shinkai because the movie had a great soundtrack, overall visual appeal, and a lot of recurring themes of rain. With that theme in mind, I had a vision of an opening title that bleeds in the scene like how water drops on water or how watercolor paint flows when dipped in a damp canvass. This was brought to life by the watercolor texture that I added on the title I made along with the bleeding in watercolor effect. In addition to that, I meticulously animated, timed,and placed the water ripples to match the music that I chose for the title. It was tedious but it added more flair to the opening title. Overall, with the snippets I got from the movie itself, I was able to create a cohesive and beautiful opening title for this anime movie.
I did so well on this project that my work was exhibited in TAFE Queensland's 2019 Year-End Exhibit: Cre8 Festival
